A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was the chief architect of India's Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP) — leading the development of the Agni, Prithvi, Akash, Trishul, and Nag missiles. As Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and head of DRDO, he oversaw India's transformation into a space and missile power. His work on the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear tests earned him the title 'Missile Man of India'. He went on to serve as India's 11th President (2002-2007).
