About Me
Cotton University, formerly Cotton College and elevated to university status in 2017, is one of the most storied higher educational institutions in India's northeast. Established in 1901 by the British colonial administration and named after Sir Henry John Stedman Cotton, the then Chief Commissioner of Assam, the institution has been at the heart of Assam's intellectual and cultural awakening for more than 120 years. Situated at Panbazar in the heart of Guwahati city, Cotton University is recognised for its distinguished academic legacy, diverse alumni network, and commitment to the values of liberal education.
