Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat is one of India's 31 National Institutes of Technology, established in 1961 as South Gujarat University's engineering arm and granted NIT status in 2002. Named after India's Iron Man, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, SVNIT is an Institute of National Importance and the premier engineering institution in Gujarat outside IIT Gandhinagar. Located in Athwa, a premium residential area of Surat, the 204-acre campus is adjacent to the Tapi river. SVNIT holds NAAC A++ accreditation and ranks among the top 30 NITs — typically NIRF 25–35 in engineering. The institute offers B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, MSc, and PhD across 14 departments. SVNIT's proximity to Surat's diamond, textile, and chemicals industries provides unique industry exposure — particularly for Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Design students.
