About Me
IIT Gandhinagar (IITGN), established in 2008, is one of the newest and most innovative Indian Institutes of Technology and has rapidly earned a reputation for academic excellence and pedagogical experimentation. Located on a sprawling 400-acre campus in Palaj, Gandhinagar — on the banks of the Sabarmati river — the institute is a study in thoughtful campus design and sustainable architecture. What sets IITGN apart from other IITs is its mandatory liberal arts and social sciences core curriculum for all B.Tech students, a radical departure from purely technical education. This interdisciplinary approach produces engineers who are also humanists, thinkers, and innovators. The institute offers B.Tech in 10 engineering and science disciplines, M.Tech, MSc, a unique MA in Society and Culture, and PhD programmes. Admission to B.Tech is through JEE Advanced. The 2024 placement season posted an average CTC of ₹18 LPA with a highest offer of ₹1.8 Crore, reflecting the strong industry appetite for IITGN graduates. The institute hosts two major annual fests — Amalthea (technical) and Blithchron (cultural) — that draw national participation. IITGN has active research collaborations with institutions across the USA, Europe, and Japan, and strong startup incubation through i-Hub Gujarat.
