About Me
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com in 1994 in a Seattle garage as an online bookstore, and grew it into the world's largest e-commerce, cloud-computing (AWS), advertising, and streaming media company — one of the very few companies to cross $2 trillion in market capitalisation. He served as Amazon CEO until July 2021, then handed the role to Andy Jassy and became Executive Chairman, focusing on Blue Origin (his space-launch company), The Washington Post (which he acquired in 2013), and the Day 1 Fund and Bezos Earth Fund philanthropies. Amazon India is one of Amazon's largest international markets, and Bezos's prime and delivery infrastructure investments there have reshaped Indian retail. His personal net worth has ranked him among the world's richest individuals for over a decade.
