Mukesh Ambani

Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani is Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), India's most valuable company by market capitalisation, and Asia's wealthiest person for much of the past decade. Born in Aden in 1957 and raised in Mumbai, he studied at UDCT (now ICT Mumbai) and Stanford before joining his father Dhirubhai Ambani's business. He led the ambitious Jamnagar refinery build-out, now the world's largest single-location refining complex, and later masterminded the 2016 launch of Reliance Jio — India's telecoms disruptor that made mobile data almost free and reset Indian internet economics. He anchors Reliance Retail (India's largest retailer), Jio Platforms (India's largest telecom and a fast-growing AI/data business), oil & petrochemicals, and Reliance Foundation. His son Anant Ambani's 2024 wedding at Antilia was covered as one of the most-watched cultural events of the year.
