Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai is the Chief Executive Officer of Google (from 2015) and Alphabet Inc. (from 2019), leading one of the world's most valuable companies through the AI era. Born Pichai Sundararajan in Madurai, Tamil Nadu in 1972, he studied at IIT Kharagpur before pursuing an MS at Stanford and an MBA at Wharton. He joined Google in 2004 and led the Chrome browser (which he championed against internal scepticism and grew into the world's most-used browser), Chrome OS, and Google's Android transition after Andy Rubin's departure. As CEO he oversees Search, YouTube, Android, Google Cloud, and Google DeepMind — the AI research group behind Gemini. He has received the Padma Bhushan (2022) — India's third-highest civilian honour — and remains one of Silicon Valley's most visible Indian-origin leaders.
