Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), formerly South Gujarat University, is a state affiliating and teaching university in Surat, Gujarat, named after the 19th-century Gujarati poet-reformer Narmad. Established in 1965, VNSGU is the apex educational authority for south Gujarat, covering Surat, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, and Valsad districts and affiliating over 200 colleges. The university campus is in Udhna-Magdalla Road, Surat. VNSGU offers programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, Engineering (through affiliates), Medicine, and Fine Arts through campus departments and constituent colleges. The university is particularly known for its Gujarati literature and language studies — dedicated to Narmad's legacy — and for its law faculty. VNSGU holds NAAC B++ accreditation. Given Surat's position as a global centre for diamond processing and textile manufacturing, the university has developed relevant vocational programmes. Annual convocations at VNSGU are notable public events, with Gujarat government representatives participating.
