Atlee Kumar is a Tamil filmmaker who rose to pan-India prominence with his high-octane masala entertainers. A protégé of AR Murugadoss, Atlee directed the blockbuster trilogy Raja Rani, Theri, Mersal, and Bigil for Tamil cinema before making his Hindi directorial debut with Jawan (2023) — starring Shah Rukh Khan — which became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of all time, crossing Rs. 1,100 crore globally.
