Lokesh Kanagaraj is Tamil cinema's most exciting contemporary filmmaker and the architect of the Lokiverse — an interconnected cinematic universe spanning Master, Vikram, Leo, Kaithi, and Coolie. His dense, layered narratives and genre-bending action sequences have revitalised Tamil commercial cinema. His 2021 film Master, starring Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi, was the first major Tamil theatrical release post-COVID and became a massive hit, while Vikram (2022) broke Tamil Nadu box-office records.
