About
Apple TV+ commissioned three original Indian productions as part of its commitment to local-language content for the South Asian market. The initiative included a critically acclaimed documentary series on Indian street food culture, a dramedy set in a Mumbai startup, and a short film anthology from emerging Indian directors. The commissioning process worked with 24 Indian production companies, 11 independent directors, and over 160 cast and crew members across the three projects. Apple's editorial team in Culver City collaborated with Mumbai-based development executives to ensure authentic storytelling while meeting Apple TV+ quality standards. The street food documentary premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and won Best Feature Documentary. The startup dramedy became Apple TV+'s highest-rated Indian-language series in its first month.
