About

Dune: Part Two (2024) is the second chapter of Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal science fiction novel. Released March 1, 2024, the film continues Paul Atreides's journey among the Fremen of Arrakis — the desert planet that produces the universe's most valuable substance, the spice melange. Where Part One established the world and its politics, Part Two delivers the messianic transformation that Herbert wrote as a cautionary tale about charismatic leaders and the societies that need them. Timothée Chalamet's Paul becomes increasingly consumed by the prophecy his Bene Gesserit mother implanted in Fremen culture — a transformation that Zendaya's Chani watches with growing horror. Austin Butler's Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen — introduced in a stunning black-and-white gladiatorial sequence — provides a dark mirror of Paul's evolution: a killer with no pretension of justice. Shot across Jordan, Italy, Abu Dhabi, and Hungary, the film's visual scale is staggering — Greig Fraser's Academy Award-winning cinematography renders Arrakis as a place of terrifying beauty. Hans Zimmer's score deepens the sonic world established in Part One, incorporating traditional instruments from North Africa and the Middle East. Dune: Part Two grossed $711 million globally on a $190 million budget and won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography, with additional nominations for Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects.
