Moonlight (2016) is Barry Jenkins' intimate masterpiece about a young Black man's journey to self-acceptance across three chapters of his life in Miami. Produced and distributed by A24, it won the Academy Award for Best Picture at the 89th Academy Awards (2017) — the first film with an all-Black cast to win Best Picture, and a landmark in LGBTQ+ cinema. It also won Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali) and Best Adapted Screenplay.
