About

Saina Nehwal won the bronze medal in Women's Singles Badminton at the London 2012 Olympics — becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic medal in badminton. Her achievement opened an era of Indian badminton excellence that led to PV Sindhu's silver (Rio 2016) and gold (Tokyo 2020). Saina was also ranked World No. 1 in women's badminton (2015) — the first Indian shuttler to hold the top global ranking.
