About

PV Sindhu won the silver medal in Women's Singles Badminton at the Rio 2016 Olympics — becoming the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal. At just 21 years old, she defeated higher-seeded players including Saina Nehwal in the semi-final, before losing to Carolina Marin of Spain in the final. Her Rio performance made her India's most recognisable sporting face alongside MS Dhoni. She went on to win gold at the 2019 World Championships and Tokyo 2020 Olympics bronze.
