Alyssa Valdez is the most famous volleyball player in Philippine history. Known as 'The Phenom', she led Ateneo Lady Eagles to multiple UAAP championships and became a national sensation. She captained the Philippine National Women's team at the 2019 Southeast Asian Games where the Philippines won bronze. Her partnership with Jaja Santiago in the national team inspired millions of young Filipinos to take up volleyball.
