Pullela Gopichand is India's national badminton coach — credited with single-handedly transforming India into a global badminton power. As a player, he won the All England Open in 2001 (only the 2nd Indian after Prakash Padukone). As coach, his students have won: Saina Nehwal (Olympic Bronze 2012, World No.1), PV Sindhu (Olympic Silver 2016, Gold 2019 World Champion), Srikanth Kidambi (World No.1), Lakshya Sen (Commonwealth Gold 2022). The Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad is the most successful sports academy in India.
